In our quest to provide our customers with the most relevant, up-to-date, multiscreen media measurement available, we at Rentrak ventured no further than the comfort of our own living rooms in finding the inspiration to develop our latest product, TV Essentials. Unveiled in September 2007, this new media measurement service calculates anonymous, second-by-second audience viewing patterns in all facets of television programming and advertising.
Rentrak currently has access to an impressive 500,000 set-top boxes (STBs), all placed in multiple media markets and made available through various network operators. These STBs are able to collect, aggregate and report anonymous, second-by-second data to our development partners. TV Essentials is architected to handle data from the nation's 110 million television households in existence today and will profile individual network performance, administer national and local estimates, and provide an evaluation of influencing factors (i.e. psychographics, demographics, weather, etc.).
Rentrak is in the process of working with development partners to validate the system design and scalability, refine the data collection processes and develop standardized reports for a variety of anticipated users such as network operators, content providers and advertising agencies and their clients. TV Essentials' official launch is scheduled for the second half of calendar 2008.
